Krasnopolye Disctrict History and Ethnography Museum

The museum was founded by the Decision of Krasnopolye District Council of People's Deputies on 28 November 1991. It was opened for visitors in 1994 in the former building of a district communication center. The general collection of museum (by 1 January 2014) is 3,400 items, and the research additional collection includes 406 items. The most considerable collections are: numismatics, faleristics, weaponry, photos, folk towels, and folk clothes.

There are four exposition halls and an exhibition hall in the museum. The exposition "The Pain by Chernobyl" presents photos and documents that tell about the effects liquidation of the Chernobyl nuclear power station explosion in Krasnopolye District.There is an exposition about the history of the Krasnopolye Folk Theater that presents the art of directors and actors and contains play posters and awards, photos with the scenes from performances, etc. The exposition Ethnography and Life of in the Late 19th - Early 20th Centuries introduces the main activities of people of that time: pottery, weaving and woodworking crafts. Among exhibits, there is the weaving loom, articles from wood and clay, the model of the pottery kiln. In the museum, there is the an exposition hall devoted to the 60th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi-Aggressors with sections "The Occupation of the District as a Regime of Violence and Torture", "Guerilla Movement in Krasnopolye", "The Liberation of Krasnopolye", "Our Countrypeople on the Great Patriotic War Fronts". A part of the exposition is occupied by the dioramas “Guella Camp” and “The Fight for Krasnopolye Liberation”. It also contains portaits of 7 Heroes of the Soviet Union who were born in Krasnopolye Disctrict.

Since 2020, the exhibition "Steps of Memory"has been operating. It is dedicated to the memory of 40 heroes-countrymen who died on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, whose fate was previously unknown.
